SUGAR MAMA’S TO CELEBRATE ONE YEAR OF BUSINESS WITH GOOD OLD-FASHIONED BIRTHDAY PARTY ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 29
Celebration includes free cake and ice cream, mini-pie-eating contest,
and other assorted merriment
(AUSTIN) – Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop, Austin’s premiere home-style dessert bakery, is celebrating its 1st birthday at its store (1905 S. 1st Street) on Saturday, August 29 with a good old fashioned birthday party, from 3-7 p.m., encompassing the retro feel and family fun that has helped define the shop in its first year.
The party will include free cake and ice cream for customers, as owner/baker Olivia O’Neal is preparing a giant birthday cake especially for the occasion – and a mini-pie-eating contest featuring the new mini-pies that Sugar Mama’s will be debuting that weekend.
Refreshments will be served, courtesy of Tito’s Vodka, Casserole Queens, NadaMoo! and Richard’s Rainwater, and other party attractions include music from Team Fabrication DJs, free balloons for children coming to the event, and in-store specials on the store’s selection of baked goods.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating a year of baking for people all over Austin,” said O’Neal. “Our birthday party is a way to thank the people who have supported Sugar Mama’s, and to enjoy an afternoon and evening with us in our little corner of South First.”
The mini-pie-eating contest, to be held at 5 p.m., will be open to all who wish to enter, with a $10 entrance fee with proceeds going to a charity. The winner (who can eat one of each variety of the 4-inch mini-pies the fastest) will receive a gift basket with gift cards from local businesses that are friends and partners of Sugar Mama’s.
Sugar Mama’s will also be baking pupcakes available for their four-legged customers on a donation basis; all proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Austin and Travis County.
